Abby Thiesen has found a new place to play.
After the University of North Dakota made the decision to shut down its women’s hockey program, the Red Deer native found herself without a team. Her academic career was also left up in the air.
Thiessen posted a tweet on Tuesday saying she will be continuing her education at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where she will hit the ice with the Huskies.
The former Red Deer Sutter Fund Chief had four assists in 35 games in her lone season with the UND Fighting Hawks.
Thiessen was invited to attend Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Program Strength and Conditioning Camp earlier this month in Hamilton.
